Understand sit and go’s are not regular poker tournaments and stack size and position are incredibly important. Everything you have read in the poker books needs to be thrown out the window. Hand selection - It’s important you grasp the concept of playing AK, AQ in the early stages. AQ needs to be played with a limp. You do not want to build a pot early on and lose a large amount of chips when you miss a flop. If someone raise in late position, it’s acceptable to take the flop early on. But realize when you miss, throw your hand away, it’s make no sense bluffing at a small pot. AK needs to be brought in with a raise, usually 3-4 times the big blind. Once again, if you miss the flop, do not lead, check and fold. Playing these hands like this early in the sit and go gives off the image of a passive player. You want to emit this image for a reason. Later in the sit and go, you will become hyper aggressive and the players left will think you are connecting with the flop more often., it’s how to win at online poker sit and go’s!

Stack Size - When you have more chips than your opponent you have a huge advantage. It’s why I like to play small pairs in the first few stages of a sit and go. When you flop a set you will bust bad players who can’t release their big pair. As your stack size grows, it’s your chance to punish the smaller stacks. They have the fear of busting out, make them play for all their chips. Punish them when they enter a pot. Having a bigger stack allows you to gamble on your draws. After all, when you lose, all you have to do is build your chip stack back up, when they lose they have to buy in again.

Stop calling - I hate calling, No limit Texas Hold-em is a betting game, not a calling game. If you have a big draw and more chips than your opponent, do not call off your chips. You want to be the one applying pressure. Make sure you are putting them to the test. Play a low limit sit and go and play the entire tournament without calling.
