In the coming weeks I will try and cover the wide range of factors that play into each poker player’s decision when they go to battle around the green felt.
Today I’d like to address, 6 tips that eliminate mistakes and rebuild your poker bankroll.
AGGRESSION IS THE KEY:
Bet enough to make your opponents make a tough decision. They can either call with a weaker hand or fold the best hand.
RAISE WHEN YOU ARE FIRST TO ENTER A POT:
I see a lot of amateurs try and get cute and see the flop cheaply. All you are doing is giving away the strength of your hand, giving your opponents a chance to catch up, and you have no idea what they may have and no idea of where you stand.
STEAL THE BLINDS:
Put significant raises in when the antes have started. When you walk around a tournament, it’s not surprising to see the best players have all the ante chips. Every poker professional has bought cars and houses with the blinds they have stolen.
ANY TABLE IS BEATABLE:
If they’re playing too tight, then play more of hands. They’re making the mistake of folding too much. If they’re playing too loose, they’re risking chips on inferior hands. Tighten up and punish them for playing these hands. And punish them severely!
DO NOT TRY TO BLUFF A CALLING STATION:
It’s something I’d do over and over again and kick myself every time I’d do it. I knew a player is going to call me even if he had third pair and I’d still try to bluff. It’s a weakness I overcame only when I understood the importance of paying attention to every hand and noting my opponents betting patterns.
PLAY WITHIN YOUR BANKROLL:
The most common mistake from amateurs and professionals alike is they undervalue the bankroll requirements. The statistical variations of the game are very large. Winning poker may be only one big bet an hour. The variations are unbelievably massive. Every poker professional has gone broke from playing too big. You have to respect the random nature of the game. Sure you can say you were unlucky when you went broke, but you did not have the bankroll to withstand the fluctuations, is the truth of the matter.

Eliminating mistakes as a poker player is the foundation of success. Put these 6 tips into action and watch your bankroll grow.
